Middle school news
From the Middle School Captains
We hope you’ve all had a great holiday, we’re so excited to finally be back again for a fresh start after last year! Welcome to the year 9s who are officially part of Middle School and to the year 10s who should savour their last year of freedom before VCE next year. We are so excited to work with everyone and help make this year the best it can be.
Over the last two weeks it’s been great to see everyone's faces again and to catch up with each other after a well deserved break. We know that it’s not everyone’s favourite thing to wake up at 6:30 in the morning but being able to come to a joyous environment like MGSC makes it worth it. It's only the start of the year but we want to encourage everyone to get into the habit of studying most nights as well as paying attention during class. It might not seem important now, but it will give you the greatest chance of doing your best at the end of semester exams.
Some of our year 10s this year have the honour of being a part of the peer support program this term. A group of 40 girls have been chosen to help out our new year 7s. Every week we go out for 45 mins and get to know them as well as play some fun games. The year 10s will also get to attend the year 7 camp for a night which we’re all very excited for.
Today we had our first day of online learning for the year. While some students enjoy having extra time to themselves, we know that others can find it difficult to focus when not in a classroom environment. To persevere through online school, we highly recommend having a healthy balance of study, socialising, exercising, and down-time; and to take breaks when needed.
Hopefully we can go back to school on Thursday and online learning will be a distant memory. (Those doing a VCE subject, we’re praying for you!!).
We wish you all the best for the coming year and are looking forward to working with you.
