Bienvenue! Youkoso! Welcome! 

This year the Languages Domain is excited to have the assistance of a local French native speaker, Livnat Segev, who will be working with students of French to develop their oral language skills. We look forward to the many cultural activities and language experiences that we can share with her.  

Our cultural liaison leaders, Biruntha Muhunthan (French) and Yamin Packeer (Japanese) are also busy preparing to start our Language clubs in term 2. See their message below.  

Bonjour à tous,  

My name is Livnat (or Livi in Australia!) and I am working at Nossal High School this year as a French Language Assistant.  

I look forward to helping our French students improve their oral and conversational skills, and develop their appreciation and curiosity for French culture.  

I myself come from a small city in Switzerland called Geneva. Switzerland has 4 official languages: German, French, Italian and Romansh. As a result, we are encouraged to learn other languages from a very young age. I believe that being multilingual has built my confidence, developed values of tolerance and opened my mind to other ways of thinking. I hope to convey a similar experience and appreciation to my students!

Bonjour and こんにちは, 

As 2021 is looking like a promising year, the languages domain is preparing many exciting and engaging events for our LOTE students and lovers of French and Japanese; we, Bree Muhunthan (French liaison) and Yamin Packeer (Japanese liaison) are excited to celebrate the cultures through Language Diversity Week - particularly the iconic annual Diversity Day assembly - and many other occasions.  

A more regular cultivation of French and Japanese culture will happen in our French and Japanese clubs, which will recommence in term 2, running every Friday Week (A) at 1:30pm in the LAN space; we invite any students who want to practice their speaking skills, are eager to partake in cultural activities and just enjoy having fun with languages to come along and share their enthusiasm with others!  

We look forward to making this year très bonne and だいじょうぶ。
