Principal's News

Dear Parents/Carers,

We certainly are living through “interesting times”. It was so nice to have the children back at school last Thursday. Congratulations and thank you to all families who handled our State’s latest lockdown. I can assure you there was a collective groan in our staff room when we heard about the lockdown and potential for more Remote Learning.

The children returned to school without any fuss on Thursday which was particularly impressive for our youngest students in Prep.

This week we are holding Parent Teacher meetings which has been the first time in almost 12 months that many parents have had the opportunity to even visit the school. These interviews are continuing today and bookings can still be made via PAM. If this week doesn’t suit your family, please contact the teacher directly or via the office to see if we can find a mutually agreeable time and day.

END OF DAY ROUTINES Families who are new to our school will have realised by now how busy it is around our school and Trinity College between 3:00pm and 3:30pm.

Now that our Prep students are leaving school at 3:15pm with everyone else, it is important that families leave the area along Hart Street, immediately in front of school for these youngest students and their siblings. Parents of Prep students should observe the No Standing restrictions between 3:00pm and 4:00pm across the road from school, along Hart Street.

All other families who collect children from school are asked to choose either “Crossing 1” which relates to the area along both sides of Hart Street but north of Pound Road. This is particularly convenient for families who have older siblings being dismissed from Trinity College.

Otherwise parents may choose to collect their children from our Gym Gate and so should park along Pound Road.

This plan is designed to ensure the safety of all children.

Our staff are on duty every afternoon to ensure that our students are safely delivered to their parents’ car, to the buses or escorted safely off on foot or by bike.

Any deviations from the above makes our job harder and potentially places

 children at risk.

SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM

The Parish Reconciliation Program begins this week. Catholic children from Grades 2,3, 5 & 6 will have brought home a letter with details about this program. Parents can register their child(ren) for Reconciliation, at St Mary’s Church either this afternoon between 5:30pm and 6:00pm or on Thursday afternoon between 3:45pm and 5:30pm. Spare Registration Forms will be available at the Church.

There is a small charge for this program of $25 to cover materials etc. Parents will receive the Information Pack about Reconciliation at this time.

Our Parish is planning to offer children the opportunity to take part in Reconciliation during the week of March 22 - 27.

ATHLETIC SPORTS Thanks to our Phys Ed teacher Ms Lynch, we have held both the Swimming Sports (Gr 4-6) and Athletic Sports (Gr 3-6) over the past 2 weeks.

These Sports emphasise the value of participation, no matter your ability, where all participants win points towards their House Team’s overall performance. Congratulations to Marian (Blue) House on taking out the Swimming Sports and Arundell (Gold) house on winning the Athletic sports last Friday.

Both of these school sports also facilitate a “pathway” for those children who excel in these areas to compete at higher levels through Inter-school and District events later in the year.

Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and from the cloud came a voice, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!’                                   Mark 9: 2,7

On a high mountain immersed in prayer, Jesus is transfigured before the disciples: his face and his entire person irradiate a blinding light...Jesus is the Son-made-servant, sent into the world to save us all through the Cross, fulfilling the plan of salvation. His full adherence to God’s will renders his humanity transparent to the glory of God, who is LOVE. - Pope Francis 2015
