2021 Student Leaders
The process of selecting students leaders for 2021 began in the first week of Term 4 last year and continued until last week, when our new Year 7 leaders had the opportunity to express their desire to be involved in student leadership at Glen Eira College.
We expect a lot from our student leaders, so it is a big responsibility and requires real commitment. Student leaders are expected to have an exemplary record regarding behaviour in class (preparedness for lessons, submission of work) and in their demonstration of school values.
The role of a student leader is to listen, advocate, act and lead. Our leaders are expected to:
- Share thoughts, ideas, and perspectives in a trusting and respectful environment.
- Make decisions and take responsibility for what needs to be done.
- Create realistic suggestions/opportunities that represent and advocate for all students.
I had hoped to be able to invite our leaders’ families to a special assembly at school for the presentation of their badges. Unfortunately the announcement of a snap lockdown by the Premier and the associated changes to rules for school meant that this assembly had to be cancelled.
However, Mrs Kindler was thrilled to be able to welcome students to special afternoon tea in the library for the presentation of the student badges.
We wish our leaders the best of luck as they embark on their new roles within the college.
