Creator God,

We are all connected, you created everyhuman being on the planetin your likeness and image and breathedlife into us. Nothing connects us more intimately than our breathing. Our breathhas become a symbol of life itself. We givethanks for this interconnectedness, that we are part of a globalcommunity who are called to live as brothers and sisters. Help  us to recognise the calls and needs of our neighbours,

to be people of compassion and forgiveness.

Amen

Dear Parents, Students and Friends

Over the past fortnight Year Seven students have had a busy time with meetings, assessments and their Community Day. Having been in a number of their classes to gauge the feeling of how they are settling into College life, I see plenty of smiles and engagement in learning and socialising, getting to know each other, routines, where things are and the pace of high school.

Parents and students attended the Welcome to Year Seven evening where Leadership staff and Year Seven Pastoral Coordinator, Mrs Star outlined Classroom Learning, Wellbeing and Faith Formation. College Student Leaders also introduced themselves and spoke of a key element of their leadership in learning by announcing that senior students will be available to assist at the Thursday afternoon Study Club in our library from 3:30-4-30. The first session of the year is this Thursday. All year groups are welcome to attend. Teachers and Teacher Assistants will also be available to help. Year Seven also had their Community Day which also involved their Year Ten Peer Support Leaders. Peer Support takes place every week over the term for one hour.

Our annual Valentine’s Day fundraiser was held on Friday, February 12 and it was wonderful to see and hear the student entertainment once again in the Year Seven and Eight Covered Area. Congratulations to everyone involved. Having had little opportunity to gather last year due to Covid-19 restrictions, the community spirit was a delight to witness! We are all looking forward to the upcoming Harmony Day Assembly and lunchtime activities in March.

The College 2021 Opening Mass took place on Ash Wednesday. With student enrolments being over 730 we just managed to fit in the Marcellin Hall. My thanks to Fr Jomer who stood in for our Chaplin, Fr Paul and to staff and students who led in so many areas of the occasion as we move into the Lenton Season, asking god to bless our work and prepare for the risen Lord over the next 40 days. A special thanks to Mercy Sister Tricia for joining our community at Mass. The Mercy Sisters have a close association with the College and are always welcome.
