Meet our College Captains

2021

Alliah Garcia - CLN College Captain

What do you see as your role as a leader?

I see an opportunity to strengthen focus on student voice, as no one knows St. Peter’s College better than its own students. My role as a servant leader challenges me to rise to the occasion alongside my peers to come together and tackle goals. I believe that the most valuable trait to have as a leader is to be a good listener, and is the hallmark of a servant leader.

What is one of the positives about being a student at St. Peter's College?

Ever since starting at St. Peter’s College as a Year 7, one of the things I have come to appreciate most is the sense of community that exists so strongly. You can see it during House Activities in the heat of competitiveness, or when teachers go the extra mile to support your learning. There’s an overwhelming feeling of care and belonging which I think is a valuable quality of St. Peter’s College.

Who is the one person you admire most and why?

I’m going to cheat a little here and say my parents, because both of them deserve the credit. My mum and dad are my biggest role models as they were my first teachers in life, and taught me meaningful attributes such as humility, kindness and the power of perseverance. I know that they worked extremely hard to be able to provide me with a quality education and life in Australia-- something that I will always appreciate and never take for granted.

What are your goals as College Captain in 2021?

One of my goals this year is to establish a public online forum to become a safe space where students can provide suggestions, input and ideas to enrich student life here at St. Peter’s College. It uplifts and empowers students' voices and will help lay out a blueprint and create a potential roadmap for what the College Leadership Team can focus on in 2021.

2021 College Theme

“I can do this through Christ, who gives me strength”. Philippians 4:13

How will you live this statement through your leadership role?

As a College Captain, there will be times where I encounter leadership challenges that are difficult to make a decision on alone. By living through the College Theme of “I can do this through Christ, who gives me strength.” I am always reminded that I don’t have to carry burdens on my own and can rely on my college peers, as we are a team.

In one sentence what is the one thing that you would  like to say to your fellow students?

You can learn great things from your mistakes when you aren’t busy denying them.

Corey Coupar - CLN College Captain

What do you see as your role as a leader?

Someone that is here to support the younger Year Levels and listen to student voices.

What is one of the positives about being a student at St. Peter's College?

While there are so many positives of being a student at St. Peter's College, one that is really highlighted to me is the overwhelming support from not just the staff but my peers as well.

Who is the one person you admire most and why?

One person that I admire would be my Grandfather as he has always supported me to go for my goals and never give up.

What are your goals as College Captain in 2021?

My goals as College Captain would be for every single student to feel their voice is heard or will be heard and to be a positive and engaging role model to my fellow peers.

2021 College Theme

How will you live this statement through your leadership role?

“I can do this through Christ, who gives me strength” Philippians 4:13 will be my 2021 motto as it will be a constant reminder that no matter how tough this position will get, anything can be achieved through Christ who gives me strength.

In one sentence what is the one thing that you would like to say to your fellow students?

Enjoy high school while it lasts and make lifelong memories because before you know it you’re in Year 12 and almost finished.
