More great learning and laughter

It has been a busy and productive Term 1 for students in Year 9 and in Year 12.

Congratulations

I would like to start by congratulating our student leaders who have been elected by their peers to be a part of the Student Representative Council. It was a pleasure to be able to hand our new leaders their badges at Year Assemblies.

Swimming Carnival

We started the term with our first sporting event for the year with the Swimming Carnival. Year 12 students and competitors attended Prairewood Leisure Centre for an eventful day organised by the PDHPE faculty.  Despite the wet weather, we had a successful  and fun-filled Zone Swimming Carnival this week. Thank you to the staff members who organised and attended the event and also to all the students who participated.

Year 9

Year 9 students have had an exciting start to the school year by immersing themselves in their chosen electives. Students are exploring their interests across a range of subjects including Music, IST (Information Software and Technology), Food Technology, Commerce and PASS (Physical Activity and Sports Studies).  Additionally, Design and Technology students will be undertaking a four-week program with UTS  (University of Technology Sydney) designing products and prototyping. This is intertwining with their curriculum learning as staff ensure that students are engaged in their units of work across the school.

In our Careers Department

Our Careers Adviser, Mrs Reid and her team have been organising the Year 12 Future in Focus Day to be held on Wednesday, 4th May.  Students will be undertaking a full day of workshops to prepare themselves for the future as they approach the end of their schooling.

In the morning, Glen Gerreyn from The HopeFULL Institute will be delivering an inspiring module that teaches students the power of setting ‘moonshot’ goals. This is an excellent personal development session that will help all students.  Other workshops include the Job Cluster Skills Forum and Further Training and Entry Pathways.
