Clean Up Australia Day

On Monday, 28 February, the Student Representative Council (SRC) took part in Clean Up Australia Day, a nationwide initiative performed by all schools. Upholding the cleanliness of our school and its surroundings is integral for a positive atmosphere of learning, and a testament to the standards of Cecil Hills High School and our value of school pristineness and its impact on success. Though it is difficult to allocate time regularly to clean our school (especially because of this wet weather) any amount of time, minute or not, makes a difference. Hence the SRC spent one hour cleaning the school’s interior and bettering the environment.

The SRC took an effort to ensure that the facilities and areas all the way from the volleyball courts to the far demountable room, were as close to as spotless as possible. The rubbish gathered was primarily food scraps, tiny plastics, and snack wrappers, predominantly around the main and TAS quads.  Whilst there was room for improvement, overall the SRC saw positive and pleasing standards on the cleanliness of our school.

Australia Day may be a one day event, but it doesn’t mean we cannot adopt the attitudes and values towards prioritising a clean, healthy environment within our school grounds.

By simply taking the initiative to put rubbish you see in the bin, or to the very least your own rubbish, the collective input from the rest of the school can exponentially improve the state of Cecil Hills High School currently.

The SRC commend the responsible students who display these values, on the tidiness of our high school, and urge you to continue upholding them and upholding our reputation as the best school in NSW.
