Leadership Camp

Rising to a warm, sunny morning, Viewbank’s Senior student leaders embarked on a journey that transformed strong independent individuals to a tight knit team that had an unbreakable bond and a perpetuated desire to uphold and enhance the drive in which the positive direction the college was heading.
Under the direction of Ms Betts, Ms Hooper and Mr Ponte, we, elected representatives from all our various departments, were able to captivate the deeper meaning of what defined a virtuous leader and unlocked our individual strengths in order to bring a multitude of benefit to the team collectively. Here we learnt traits and the elucidation of responsibility, ownership and accountability, in keeping sure we never behaved below the line!
We moved away from our personal comfort zones and took on challenges that were physically and mentally exhausting, all the more evaluating our leadership skills under stress and fatigue. Through mountain hiking, surfing and toughening rough weather, we were all able to motivate each other, to never give up, and in the end to build up our character to be the best version of ourselves.
We witnessed personal growth, maturity and new friendship bonds that saw us pass the ‘speed dating’ activity in which we collaborated ideas and plans for the upcoming year with other leaders in quick succession. This lead to building new partnerships, cooperation’s and affiliations in bringing various sections of the Viewbank College community together.
At the end of the rewarding week, all 17 students and staff were liberated by a witty bus trip home, being infected with nostalgia, literally taking a trip down memory lane chorusing 2000s music at the top of our lungs.
Our objective for the rest of the year is to continue the momentum that has only begun, to work with the rest of the school in making sure 2022 oversees the most positive growth in all areas, striving together for excellence.
