The Third & Fourth Weeks of Advent

Stand in the Light with Joy & Love

Being the last newsletter for the year, I have combined the Third and Fourth Weeks of Advent.

The Third Sunday of Advent symbolizes JOY with the pink candle, the 'Shepherd’s Candle' reminding us of the joythe world experienced at the coming birth of Jesus. We can also rejoice for the people with whom we are spending this festive season and never take them for granted. If it's one thing we have learnt throughout this year it's that we should cherish the time spent with family and friends as life is often unpredictable.

Next week, the Fourth Sunday of Advent revolves around the theme of LOVE and we light the final purple candle to signify this. This candle is also known as the Angel's Candle. The Angel's Candle recalls the Christmas message of the angels: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” (Luke 2:14

We cannot overlook the love and devotion Mary and Joseph had for one another and the importance of angels in Scripture starting from The Annunciation to the dream Joseph experienced: "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to yourself, Mary, your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." (Matthew 1:20-25)

The white candle is the most important, the JESUS Candle. It allows us to focus and rejoice in the birth of Christ. When we light this candle, we combine all the emotions of the previous weeks - hope, peace, joy and love.

Week 3 & 4 Advent Goals:Share the joy and love you have in your heart with all those around you. Be courageous in all that you do to deliver the true message of Christmas.

Christmas Hampers

A BIG THANK YOU goes out to all the families who contributed to the many Christmas Hampers over the past few weeks. The effort has been extraordinary and bears witness to the genuine consideration and empathy we have for our fellow community members. Not even a pandemic has prevented the St Therese community from going above and beyond to assist other people less fortunate than ourselves.

People whom we will never know, receiving our gifts. The gift however, is the generosity and consideration shown by you all. My motto this year has been gratitude and empathy and I believe the St Therese community has demonstrated this in spades.

Thank you to the Mini Vinnies Leadership Team who were instrumental in leading many events throughout the course of the year including our Christmas Hamper drive. All the very best to you all with your secondary school endeavours.

I would like to take this opportunity in wishing everyone a joyful and blessed Christmas and a safe and healthy new year.

I look forward to seeing you all in 2022! God bless.

Grow in gratitude and empathy.
