Primary

From the Primary Office

With the continual easing of COVID restrictions, the school has reviewed its drop off and pick-up arrangements in the Primary carpark. We are pleased to let our families know that we are returning to ‘normal’ drop off and pick-up arrangements from Monday 28 February.

Drop off:

Parents are asked to park their car in the Primary carpark and walk their child to the school gate. Parents are able to walk their child/ren to their class as long as they wear a face mask when entering the school premises.

Pick up:

Parents are asked to park their car in the Primary carpark and wait in front of their child’s class or at a designated collection point. We ask that parents continue to socially distance and wear face masks when entering the school grounds.

At this stage, parents are not able to enter the classroom unless a prearranged appointment has been made. School will return to a 3:05 pm finish time for all students. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our school community for their ongoing patience and support.

Meet us at the Market

The school will be present at the upcoming Echuca Moama Market at Sound Shell Gardens in Moama on Sunday. Our School leaders will be involved in running student activities and we look forward to connecting with you at the market.

Kinder Parent Reading Information Session and Workshops

It is important to read with your child on a daily basis. At Moama Anglican Grammar, we recognise the valuable part you, as parents, play in helping your child learn to read. To help close the gap between reading at home and at school, an information session and two practical workshops were held. Both the information session and the workshops were to promote a shared understanding of the reading process and to encourage consistent language throughout the school. We thank you for your commitment in supporting your child/ren at home in collaboration with their Kinder teacher.

Parent Volunteers

A huge thank you to the 33 parents who have completed the full process and who have become Registered Volunteers at Moama Anglican Grammar this year. We look forward to the many opportunities to have you involved in the life of our school. For those other parents looking at completing the process, further volunteer inductions have been scheduled.

Sexuality Education Program Years 4-6

Cath McCallig and Kelly Nash worked collaboratively with our students in Years 4 to 6 this week, delivering engaging lessons and lots of new information on various topics as part of PDHPE and Pastoral Care programs.

The Year 4 program covered topics; Myself and My family, Body Parts and Functions. The Year 5/6 program topics focused on; I’m Changing, I’m managing Puberty and What’s it all about.

Thanks to our great parent support at our information sessions. The ladies shared some great resource suggestions that also may be of interest to continue your ongoing discussions at home with your children.

Guided Reading Tables

All Kinder to Year 4 classrooms have received a guided reading table and new chairs for their classroom. This additional furniture allows for small group instruction designed to provide differentiated teaching that supports students in developing proficiency. The small group model allows students to be taught in a way that is intended to be more focused on their specific needs, accelerating their progress.

Primary Parent-Teacher Interviews

Our Term 1 Primary Parent-Teacher Interviews will be held on the following days:

Wednesday 9 March from 3:30 - 6:30 pm

Interviews will be held in your child’s classroom. The portal will close at midday on Tuesday 8 March.

More information will be shared with families in the near future.

Mathematics Years 3-6

We are fortunate to have access to the Essential Assessment Platform for students in Years 3-6.

The Essential Assessment program allows teachers to pre-assess students within each strand or sub-strand of the Australian Curriculum, Victorian Curriculum or NSW Syllabus. Student results are automatically compiled, advising the teacher of each student’s current achievement level and analysis of the achievement standards that has been understood and misunderstood for each student, group and class.

Essential Assessment differentiates the curriculum within each sub-strand based on each assessment result and creates a tailored paper-based and online curriculum (My Numeracy) for each student, group or class. Each assessment, curriculum activity and curriculum resource has been carefully aligned to the NSW Syllabus with emphasis on student growth through achievement.

Students have access to the Essential Assessment Program website at home and at school. To access this resource from home, students go to the website https://www.essentialassessment.com.au/ and enter their login details which are located in the student’s diary.

What is My Numeracy?

My Numeracy works in conjunction with the Essential Assessment Online Assessment program. My Numeracy is dependent on students’ pre-assessment results. Once a pre-assessment has been completed, the Essential Assessment program automatically creates a differentiated and personalised online curriculum for each student, based on the content descriptors misunderstood throughout an assessment.

What is Sunset Maths?

Sunset Maths is an online game that is aimed at developing each student’s mental maths skills in the four operations; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division from each student’s current understanding. Sunset Maths uses each student’s pre-assessment data to align to each operation, allowing them to develop their knowledge. Students will have access to the mental math game upon signing into their Essential Assessment student account. Students work through each stage by answering questions before the sun sets, earning tokens as they progress and achieve.

Terrific Two-sday

On Tuesday the 22nd of February, Year 2 celebrated TWOSDAY, a once in a lifetime event. It was a day full of exciting activities linking to the number two. The students and teachers had so much fun, it sure was an awesome day to be in Year 2! The students left with a crown on their head and a smile on their face.

Year 6 Music

Year 6 students have the privilege to learn woodwind and brass instruments in their Music classes with Kev Kiely. This is a fantastic opportunity to try out instruments before students commit to learning them further.

Primary Science

Mrs Carmody and Year 5B competed their investigation of 'fair tests' in comparing mould growth on dry bread and damp bread.

Room for a Zoom?

To support possible future families who are currently considering their child’s education and would like to find out more about our school, we are offering a free Zoom information session on Tuesday 8 March.
