Principal's Report

A Settled Start

Staff have been so impressed with how well our students have settled into the new school year. At the beginning of any school year, there are lots of changes for all students but it really is remarkable how ready for the start of the year our students have been (thank you families!) and how our classroom learning programs have been able to kick start so well. In talking with some of our new staff they are extremely impressed with where our students are working academically, which is wonderful to hear as this gives us a real-time opportunity to know how our learning programs are supporting student learning at Marlborough.

Our altered timetable is also providing some of the benefits that we had planned for and we are seeing fewer issues at playtimes in the playground. We have also begun our work on Friendology with students which will begin to support friendships as well.

Covid Update

As you will have seen we have had a number of Positive Cases at school this week. I would like to thank families who have been so diligently testing their children which has picked up most of these cases. It was announced today that the testing program will continue for the entirety of Term 1 as modelling shows that it has prevented over 20,000 cases in schools. Currently, families have enough tests for next week, and we will notify families of the process of test distribution for week 5 once we have the tests delivered to us.

Face Masks and Hats

It has been wonderful to see students complying with our school sun smart protocols of wearing a hat when outside and also for our Year 3-6 students wearing face masks. Thank you for your support with this.

Compass

Compass, our student management system, is the most important tool that we use to communicate with families. If you have not been receiving updates over the past two weeks (our Year 6 Families have been contacted today regarding an error in some of our communications) please contact Natalie in the office. Not only do we want to have all families to have access to everything you need to support your child at school, this is how we provide vital updates and information at school.

Camp Australia

Just a reminder to families that if you need to use Camp Australia's program you must book through them and enrol with them. Our systems from last year cannot be rolled over and we are also not able to take bookings for you anymore. I understand that adjusting to a new system can be a challenge, however, if you need information on how to enrol please pick up a flyer from our office, or contact Camp Australia on 1300 105 343.
