School Council President

School Council

All government schools in Victoria have a school council. They are legally constituted bodies that are given powers to set the key directions of a school within statewide guidelines. In doing this, a school council is able to directly influence the quality of education that the school provides for its students.

The final meeting for 2021's School Council will be held on Tuesday, February 22 and we will soon be asking for nominations to join for 2022.

Parents on school councils provide important viewpoints and have valuable skills that can help shape the direction of the school. Those parents who become active on a school council find the involvement satisfying in itself and may also find that their children feel a greater sense of belonging.

Our Council meets on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 pm and typically meets around 8 times per year. You don't need any special skills or experience to join the Council, just the desire to work with others to help shape the future of our school.

If you'd like to know more about what is involved, then please feel free to get in touch. If you'd like to nominate for Council, keep an eye out for the nomination forms which will be coming home over the next few weeks.

Fantastic Fridays and Tasty Treats sales

Starting today, we will be opening the canteen for our Fantastic Fridays recess sales of a range of snacks and drinks. Everything is either $1 or $2 so send a gold coin to school with your child if you'd like them to be able to buy something.

We had a very successful Tasty Treats sale late last year where we sold donated baked goods on a special Friday. The children loved it, the tasty treats disappeared in no time and we raised some money for the school.

We will be holding a Tasty Treats sale in two weeks' time on Friday, February 25 and we'd love as many homemade cookies, brownies and muffins as we can get.

More details will be sent out early in the week of the sale and the treats can be dropped off on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. This will be the first sale for the year, so it's your chance to show off your baking skills (or perhaps your children's baking skills) and help the school raise some money

Warrandyte Festival

The Warrandyte Festival is scheduled for Friday 18th and Saturday 19th of March 2022 with the name "Warrandyte: Together Again". As everyone would be aware, it's been several years since the festival has been held in full and we'd love to run a fundraising stall for the school.

We're looking for volunteers to help us plan and run a stall on Saturday 19th. Please get in touch if you are interested in helping - this has the potential to be one of our major fundraisers for the year so it would be wonderful if we could get as many helpers as possible.
