Project Friday

Year

Michael Bartley

VCAL Coordinator

The Year 11 VCAL class is currently undertaking Community Projects under the collective banner of Project Friday.

Students are working in groups to develop a practical project that serves their community. Each group has brainstormed an idea, and are working together to roll out their project.

This provides a great opportunity for students to focus their work related skills - developing good teamwork and collaboration strategies as well exercising their initiative and  critical problem-solving skills.

These students are doing a fine job - all in aid of the community in which they live.

The Vision and Values of Brunswick Secondary College include “a strong sense of community” and this is the basis for Project Friday for VCAL students.

My group has decided to hold a Clothing Drive to support the homeless and we hope that our school community will assist us in helping the homeless this winter.

Between now and  June 6

families can donate items to the clothing drive.  Some examples include dark-coloured track pants, hoodies, warm jackets, beanies, scarves, gloves, new sleeping bags or toiletry items (new, unopened and preferably travel-size).

Items can be deposited into Donation wheelie bins located in A3 or the General Office Student foyer - and all will be gratefully received!
