Putting business skills to good work!
The Year 10 Commerce class recently ran a Business Fair for Charity .
In groups, the students had used their entrepreneurial skills to choose a product to make, advertise and then sell to the school community. The fair took place at lunchtime in the A block courtyard, attracting lots of interest!
The different groups each ran a stall - selling pop-corn, cakes, donuts, lolly bags, spiders and soft drinks. This project was a challenging undertaking which proved very successful and lots of fun for all participants.
The advertising material that had been put up around the school generated lots of expectation and interest. The courtyard filled quickly with students from all year levels keen to see what was on sale. There was a buzz and a real 'market vibe' as sellers sold to grateful customers, and all the stalls were sold out by the end of lunchtime.
The commerce students were thrilled with their success - “I didn’t think our stall would be so popular! We sold everything we made.” “I enjoyed the selling part…..bartering with the customers was fun.”
The Year 10 Commerce class demonstrated great entrepreneurial flair, teamwork and planning skills. Each group did indeed make a profit at the fair, which they donated to the people of Ukraine through the UNICEF. This charity was chosen by the group that had made the largest profit on the day - Andrea Berge, Prudence Connell, Saraya Hamour-Asquini and Liberty Redican (see photo below). The total donation raised from the 11 stall holders was $411.60 - a great result!
Students and staff extend a special 'thank you' to the Facilities team, Ray and Dave, for for their assistance with the event.
