Home Reading
Home reading will begin next week for Years 1 - 6. An information sheet will be sent home on Monday with your child regarding home reading expectations and routines. If you have any questions about Home Reading please ask your child’s teacher during meet and greets.
Did you know that researchers discovered that the very best readers (children who scored better than 90 percent of their peers on reading tests) read for more than 20 minutes a day.
Reading for 20 minutes a day = student will read about 1.8 million words a year
Reading for 5 minutes a day = about 280 000 words a year
Reading less than 1 minute a day = 8000 words a year.
A child who reads less than 1 minute a day would require one year to read what the best readers read in two days! This highlights the importance of daily reading, so your support with home reading is greatly appreciated and will benefit your child.
ACTION: 2023 Parent Information Packs and Important Information
Thank you to those families who have completed and returned the forms to the school office. For those who have not yet returned the forms, please read the covering letter carefully and return at your earliest convenience.
What do I need to do if my child's arrangements for going home change?
At times your child's travel arrangement for going home can change for various reasons. When this occurs it is always advisable to let the school office know to save any confusion.
The school office is able to advise your child and their teacher if messages are received by 1:20 pm.
