Dear Parents and Carers
This week,
As we focus on students building age appropriate skills in being responsible we look forward to working in partnership with you to support the students to grow in faith, improve in learning and find meaning and purpose in a safe environment.
I am pleased to share with you the upcoming opportunities for you to actively engage with the school to support your child/ren's learning and wellbeing. Today we held our first whole school mass for the year. This was a great way for our community and students to build a real sense of belonging with St Joseph's.
Meet and Greets
During Week 4, 5 and 6, our beginning of year Meet and Greets with parents and teachers will be held. I invite you to meet your child's teacher/s and participate in this opportunity to share relevant information about your child/ren.
ACTION:
Parents/carers of students in Year 1 to Year 6 are able to book an appointment via Compass conferences. Appointments are now open.
Kindergarten Meet and Greets will be held in Week 5 and 6 and information on how to book will be provided soon.
Grade Curriculum Notes
The Grade Curriculum Notes will be provided to parents early next week via Compass. These notes outline the learning for the term and provide you with information to engage your child in conversation about what they are doing and what they have achieved. Teachers work with the students to outline the success criteria for learning at school. This give the students a target to strive for and assists our older students to set goals for their own learning.
Opportunities to meet informally
We encourage your active engagement with the school to support your child's learning and wellbeing. While the Meet and Greets and the Grade Curriculum provide set opportunities to share information about your child's learning and wellbeing, you are always welcome to arrange with the school office an informal meeting or phone call with your child's teacher throughout the year. Sometimes you might just want to touch base with a teacher to see how your child is going and how you can support learning. Please be assured that teachers will communicate with you when required to share learning successes or concerns. This aligns to the goal of active engagement as part of the Parent- School partnership framework.

How does my child receive a Principal's Award?
Class teachers nominate students for Blue Merit Awards and are presented at the weekly assembly. When five Blue Merit Awards have been received, students send them to the school office to be recorded and are then eligible for a Principal’s Award. When students attain their 4th Principal Award, they are awarded a Principal’s Medallion at an assembly. End of Term awards can be included as part of the 5 awards.
Acknowledgement to Country
