"to live justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with God."

Micah 6:8

Dear Parents

On Monday afternoon, the Prep students and some of the Year 6 leaders gathered together to burn the palms that were blessed at last years Palm Sunday Mass.

We reflected on the symbolism of ashes by using the analogy of a fire in the forest. Often a fire in the forest leaves dead wood that becomes ashes but amongst the ashes new seeds are sown and new life grows. We start a fresh new life. During Lent we are called to make a new start. We leave behind our failings and concentrate on positive choices that help us grow closer to God. The ashes created from the palms were used at yesterdays Ash Wednesday Mass.

Fr Vinh talked about Lent being a time where we try to  become the best version of ourselves. The students have made their own promise that they will focus on over the Lenten journey to help them become closer to God. They will continue to explore the meaning of Lent and the Easter season as they engage in dialogue and critically reflect on the meaning of the stories leading up to Easter.

Please note in your diary, the Easter Re-enactment in which the students will participate, on Thursday the 6th April. This will be outside in the amphitheatre and all parents are welcome to attend.

Have a lovely week

Bernadette
