Year 5 Open Water Learning Experience

Our Year 5 students will be involved in the Open Water Lifesaving Education Program on Thursday 23rd February. The day of learning creates ‘Everyday Lifesavers’ out of our students, by teaching them practical and engaging water safety, lifesaving and emergency response skills. The OWLE program is designed to empower students to make safe aquatic related decisions while enjoying their local waterway. Lifesaving Victoria instructors will conduct a 2.5 hour session with the remaining time used to engage in a range of “Nipper” beach activities.

The setting of our program will be at Hampton LifeSaving Club on Hampton’s forebeach.

We ask all Year 5 parents to make sure their child packs the following in a small backpack for the day:

  • Morning snack
  • Lunch
  • 2 drink bottles filled with water
  • School Hat
  • Rash vest or suitable t-shirt with long/short sleeves (Rash vests are provided by LSV and to be worn for visibility and safety reasons but your child may like to wear their own rash vest or a sleeved shirt underneath LSV rash vest)
  • SPF 30+ sunscreen
  • Face Mask (to be worn on the bus)
  • Towel
  • Change of underwear
  • Plastic bag for any wet clothing
  • Warm clothing (in case of cool weather)
  • Wetsuit (optional)
  • Hygiene Items such as soap (optional)

All information regarding the Year 5 Open Water Learning Experience can be found in the sent Operoo permission form.
