Primary News

Welcome back, Primary students, and a special welcome to our 2023 foundation cohort! Watching students settle into their new classrooms with big, happy smiles has been a pleasure. The primary staff are so proud of how all students engage, listen, communicate, and learn throughout the day. The first term is always very busy as students begin learning new routines. We’ve seen some lovely friendships blossoming!

Shoutout to our returning students for being such fantastic role models for our foundation students and helping them settle with ease. Our students have participated in various activities such as literacy, numeracy, P.E., Dream Big, bike riding, cooking, and science. Students have also had opportunities to explore our school sensory spaces, such as the Multipurpose Room, The Movement Room, and our Primary sensory space. Foundation students' swimming program will be starting next term. We look forward to seeing our students access swimming program and have lots of fun while learning important water-safety skills.

We have been learning and practicing our school values; Care, Share, Do your Best, and Be Safe. Our foundation students are already singing along to our School Song and enjoy watching our Video Self-Models of their peers displaying the school values. Students also enjoy earning their Super-Skill Bucks for displaying our values; visit our Super-Skill Shop! Superstars! We have had lots of fun in the sun, and our frequent waterplay sessions have been a standout for all students to stay cool in the hot weather. It has been great to see classes joining and playing cooperatively in shared play spaces.

Thank you to all parents for making themselves available for last week's SSG meetings. Meeting new families and learning more about our students is always lovely. It’s also great to connect with our families and hear about all the holiday fun! We look forward to having lots more fun in 2023!

Secondary News

2023 has been a positive start for students and staff. It is exciting to see new students in the secondary section of the school increasing their independence as they continue to learn.

The students have been practising sharing and taking turns by participating in playing board games together and taking turns by selecting music to play.  All the students are enjoying their weekly Dream Big sessions with Julie as they develop an understanding of how food and fibres are produced.
