Our swimming program at Croydon SDS is very popular with our students and families.
Unfortunately, we have had some challenges with staffing the program with qualified swim staff this term. We have needed to prioritise making sure that our classrooms and specialist programs are well staffed. We have made the difficult decision to postpone the start of the swimming program until next term. We will let families know when this program will resume and the day your child's class will have their swim session. If you have any questions, please contact Christine or I to discuss further.
At Croydon SDS, we have an Emergency Management Plan which outlines all of our procedures in case of an emergency situation at school. This plan is reviewed and updated each year to ensure it reflects the needs of the students, staff and school as a whole.
Our two main response procedures are:
Shelter in Place- In case of an unsafe person or situation. Students and staff move to an indoor space and external doors are locked. Students continue with inside programs.
Evacuation On site evacuation - students and staff move to the basketball court.
Off-site evacuation - students and staff move to the tennis courts in Belmont Park
We have specific music for the shelter in place and on-site evacuation and a bell sounds for the off- site evacuation.
Each classroom has a social story for students explaining what we do when the emergency signals sound. Each term, we practise one of our emergency procedures. This term we will practise Shelter in Safe Place.
