Message from the Principal

St Anthony’s Parish and St Anthony’s School hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as central and fundamental responsibilities of the Church.

St Anthony’s is fully compliant with all policies in relation to Child Safety. These documents ensure compliance with the Victorian Government Child Safety Standards which took effect on 1 January 2017 and reflect our Parish's ongoing commitment to ensuring that all children are safe, happy and empowered.

Hello families and friends of St Anthony's,

Happy New Year and Welcome back to school!

I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. I spent time with my two God Daughters who were visiting from interstate. It had been a very long three and a half years since we had seen each other. We spent time on the Mornington Peninsula visiting Arthur's Seat and the beach.

It has been fabulous to see everyone settling back at school, enjoying their new friends, learning in their new spaces with such wonder and awe. On Monday our 2023 Preps joined us at school. It was such a pleasure meeting all the students, parents, carers and grandparents.

Our school leadership team for 2023 are Erin, James, Glennis and Stephanie for the Leadership executive team and joining the wider leadership team are Jane, Morgan, Kirsty, Tina, Deana, Ellis, Susan and Christelle. This year we have an exciting new leadership role titled Leaders of Learning. You can read more about it further in the newsletter.

Together we drive the school Strategic Plan and Annual Action Plan. We meet regularly and drive school improvement and support the staff in meeting targets and creating engaging, safe and respectful learning spaces with our St Anthony’s High Expectations.

Respect Yourself         Respect Others            Respect our School

Working in the office this year are Jamil, Samiha and Debbie. They are here to assist you with any questions or concerns. We are very excited to be using our refurbished admin building! We invite everyone to come along and have a look! There are still a couple of things that need to be finalised however we just love our bright, new, airy and collaborative working space!

This year we welcome some new staff to our St Anthony’s community. I know that everyone will join me in welcoming Pei Yi Lim who is teaching Year 1/2, Mary Diaco a Learning Support Officer, Troy Holland our music Therapist and Cathryn Williams who is in Prep on Thursdays.

2023 promises to be a year full of exciting new opportunities and great learning. This year we focus on Joy. It’s important to stop and find joy in our lives. When we have fun, we feel joy, when we enjoy and love what we do, we do it well and work more efficiently. With joy we achieve our goals, develop partnerships with each other and our community and most importantly we enable ALL flourish!

Dear God,

Thank you for the joy we find in living, loving and caring.

God, you enable us to share our inner light and to share the moments that matter with those we love.

We praise You for the joy you bring.

Amen

Drop Off and Pick Up

School gates open at 8.30am with classrooms opening at 8.40am.

Our first learning session starts at 8.50am. We ask all families to not bring children to school prior to 8.30am as there is no supervision available.

Families who require earlier supervision will need to take their children to before school care which is available from 6.30am. To book before or after school care visit: https://ylv.com.au/online-vacation-care-booking-form/

We ask that all students enter the school via the gates rather than through the new office.

Meet the Teacher Conversations

Our Meet the Teacher Conversations are next Monday 20th February. These meetings will be held at school. School will finish at 1pm so that we can ensure all parents have the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher. Instructions will be shared next week so that you can make a booking.

Always know that all staff here at St Anthony’s are here to work in partnership with you and to support you in any way we can. If you have any questions, ideas or feedback we always want to hear them and we will do our very best to help you. You can contact the school office on 9546 0044.

Have a wonderful weekend.

God Bless,

Erin Nagel
