Grade 2 Students

Celebrating our terrific Twos!

Literacy

For the past few weeks, the Grade Two students have been focusing on descriptive sentences and adjectives in both their reading and writing. We have been so impressed with the improvement in their sentences when writing. The students amazed us with their creative imaginations when drawing and writing a descriptive snapshot about a monster. We could not believe how many wonderful WOW words the students used.

Maths

In Maths, we have continued our focus on place value. The students have been exploring two and three-digit numbers and have been enjoying using materials such as MAB, unifix and paddle pop sticks to investigate numbers. They really enjoyed creating their names out of MAB and representing each letter in number, expanded and written form.

Respectful Relationships

Over the past week, we have looked at emotional triggers and identified experiences that can trigger particular emotions. For example, I felt excited when it was my birthday. I felt angry when my brother took my ball. Helping students explore their emotional triggers can assist them to deal with big emotions and understand what might be causing these emotions.
