Japanese

This week in Japanese:

YR1 Zone of Regulations – feelings!

YR 1 students have been learning vocabulary around feelings and reviewing colour names. These are connected with Zone of Regulations and these words are used within the Japanese lessons. Students created their own feeling chart using the appropriate colours and expressions. Well done YR1 students! See if they can still remember the words below. :)

Genki! - I’m feeling fine!

Kanashii – I’m feeling sad.

YR2 Setsubun Oni mask!

YR2 students have been learning about Setsubun! Oni (ogre) is part of one of the rituals called Mamemaki. This is held to drive bad fortune/sprits away – just like Aboriginal people’s Smoking Ceremony. Our students learned the phrase ‘Oni wa soto!’ when we do Mamemaki. Then they created their colourful Oni masks reviewing colours and body parts. To create this mask, the children had to ask for the colour paper they needed in Japanese and many managed to say the right sentence. Well done Year 2 students!
