Secondary Community News

Lower Secondary (Years 7-8)

This week, 7/8s students once again experience a great time settling in their new class and getting used to all the changes that are happening around the school. Many new friendships have been formed between the peers, and many good relationships between students and staffs are blooming. 7/8 students continue to learn about Place Value and how to use blocks to represent a number. They are also following the journey in "Are we there yet?" story and exploring many beautiful landscapes throughout South Australia. The students can't wait to unpack the next part of the journey in the following weeks."

Upper Secondary (Years 9-10)

This week the 9/10’s decided on a name for the school café. They will run the café every Thursday for staff starting in Term two. The café allows the students to work on their employability skills and get job experience while onsite at the school.

First, students gave name ideas and voted on which one they liked best. Then, we chose the top 5 names and surveyed the school staff. Next, we took that data and made a bar graph. Finally, we arrived at the name Jackson Express. The students are now working on a logo and designing their uniforms.

I enjoy AGA. We are doing a lot of bookwork and some days we go to the workshop. We learned how to cut wood.  Kaylan

I enjoy going to AGA every Wednesday. We have learnt to get into a trade you need a white card, and you must do an apprenticeship for 4 years. We have learnt what they offer in a trade like Electrical, Carpentry and Plumbing.   Kyra

Every Wednesday I go to AGA, it is about woodwork on the second week we used a handsaw to cut timber. I like cutting timber and AGA.  Noah

AGA was quite boring because they were doing their white card which I have already done last year. It was alright because it gave my brain a refreshment so I don’t have any accident it the workplace.  Nicholas
