Technology in Torrens
Headphones
Technology is an integral part of learning and teaching at LNPS. Much of the digital learning experiences require focussed listening and to accommodate these learning experiences, headphones are an important part of today's classroom. While many students are bringing their own, LNPS has been able to source quality headphones that we have available for families to purchase through the school for $30.
Should you be interested in purchasing a pair, please complete form below (or the paper copy sent home recently) and return it to your child's teacher by Friday, 18th August. An invoice can then be generated and sent home for payment.
Digital Citizenship
Using technology safely, ethically, effectively and efficiently are important for people of all ages within our global community. Increased technology within our school and expectations within our community mean it is vital for our students to develop skills and a positive disposition towards their rights and responsibilities. LNPS continues to empower students to be successful learners, connect and contribute to their community and develop positive relationships.
Our focus during semester 2 is on safety and ethical behaviour using these 3 elements:
1. Protect yourself and others.
2. Respect yourself and others
3. Follow the rules - Intellectual Property and Copyright. This will be of particular importance as we research and write Information Reports. Students are being made aware of plagiarism and the need to cite their research findings.
In addition, we are continuing to focus on effective and efficient digital citizenship. By encouraging and modelling use of a variety of devices, programs and apps students are creatively exploring and engaging with numerous learning platforms. Students are able to personalise their learning and actively produce a variety of evidence to show their learning.
At the start of each school year, all LNPS students (and their families) sign an Acceptable Users Agreement to ensure they are fully aware of what is expected. From time to time classes re-visit this document to reinforce best practise and as a reminder of safety and fairness expectations. Currently many of our Torrens students need prompting re item number 4 - to show care for school and personal devices, so that there is minimal down time and financial cost.
An aspect of our current Homework Grid encourages students to have conversations at home to share their thinking about 'What makes a good digital citizen?'
