Alongside our Health Curriculum, students will work together to incorporate the LNPS Values, Learner Qualities, Child Protection Curriculum and You Can Do It! learning programme.

TERM 1

Learning Intentions

To know the meaning of the word success.

To be able to give examples of their own success.

 

Students will

  •  Say in their own words what success means and describe why it is good to be successful.

To know what it means to be confident. 

To know why being confident is important.

 

Students will

  • focus on what confidence. feels like, looks like and behaves like. 
  • practise being confident. and will know different ways that will help everyone be more confident.

To know what being persistent means.

To understand how being persistent can help you to be as successful as possible in your schoolwork.

 

Students will

  • Think of behaviours that show persistence. 
  • Think of how persistence feels, behaves and looks.

  • Brainstorm ways of thinking  that make it easier to be persistent.

To  know the characteristics of a good friend.

To  know the behaviour of someone who is not being a good friend.

 

Students will

  • describe what the values mean
  • say what the values they do and think of the ones they would like to do more

To know what it means to get along.

To understand why it is important to get along with classmates and teachers.

Students will

  • discuss the benefits of being in a classroom where everyone gets along.
  • brainstorm getting along behaviours.

To know what self-talk means and how it is a very powerful way to show how we feel and behave.

Students will

  • demonstrate self-talk by thinking to themselves without saying anything out loud.

  • identify qualities and behaviours of a good friend.
  • sort behaviours to determine which a friendly and which are unfriendly
  • role play what being a good friend can look like.
