Hour of Coding in French!
On Friday 10 March, Blackburn High School welcomed Bertrand Thomachot from Two Moos, who undertook a French lesson with the Year 12s and Year 10s, teaching the students how to code.
The students created a bilingual French and English dictionary using the Python coding language. Students were really engaged in learning how to do something new while immersing themselves in the target language! A big thank you to Thomas and to Ms. Love/ Ms. Ivkov for suggesting the link between French and STEM!
We will be sure to have him back!
German Year 9 Plum Cake Activity
Year 9 German students combined their language skills with some hands-on baking in German class to make a type of traditional Zwetschgen Kuchen. Students were presented with a recipe for a German plum cake and the required ingredients. Each student actively contributed to the preparation and baking process. Whilst the cake was baking in the oven students had a closer look at the sentence structures involved with the method of the cake.
