Welcome back to 2023.

I hope that you all had a restful holiday, enjoying quality family time and the little bit of nice weather that we had.

What a lovely start to the year we’ve had. As we’ve walked through classrooms in the last two weeks, we have noticed how settled all of our students are. Teachers have been working with their students on developing classroom expectations and exploring our school wide expected behaviours: be respectful, be resilient and be empathetic.

Term 1 is already looking very action packed with incursions, excursions, school photos and sporting events. Our Year 6 students started the year by participating in a ‘Positive Peer Relationships’ incursion and the leaders have had their first meeting with their mentor teacher to start working on their first project for the year. Coming up in the next few weeks they have the GRIP leadership conference, which all of our year 6 students have been invited to attend.

The Classroom Helpers booklet with the 2023 quiz is available on Compass. Just a reminder that this is an annual requirement. We look forward to seeing parents, grandparents and others working in our classrooms, the kitchen and garden and attending camps and excursions. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Term 1 Student Support Group meeting bookings will go live in the next week. Student Support Group meetings are offered to families of students with disabilities, with social/emotional or behaviour concerns and to students with attendance or learning difficulties. The meeting is attended by parents/carers, the classroom teacher, a leadership representative and may have a member of our inclusion team in attendance. Any external specialists working with your child may also attend to share goals and strategies that may be effective at school. All meetings are held within the normal school day and the classroom teacher is released to be able to attend.

This week I had a phone call from Kate Foost. Kate is a dietician who is trying to develop information sessions for parents and teachers. I have attached a flyer with the upcoming webinars and also a visual regarding “The Go & Grow” lunchbox. There is also a website which has lots of free resources for parents. I’d be interested to hear any feedback from anyone who taps in to these resources.
