A message from our Principal

Dear St. Brendan's School Community,

It is wonderful to see our Adventure Playground finished and opened for use.

The children have been extremely excited to explore all the different equipment.  We are extremely happy with the finished product and especially the safety aspects with the rubber surface and the synthetic turf.

Thanks to all those involved including The School Advisory Council that looked at all the options for our school.

National Apology Day

Some of our students and teachers, Leanne Pellegrino, Joel Brian, Kasi Kelly and myself attended the National Apology Breakfast in the Queen's Gardens.

The National Apology Day is observed on 13th February every year in Australia.  It is a national day commemorating the first ever National Apology made by Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd in 2008.

There was a very good attendance, and we enjoyed listening to the guest speakers.

Sandhurst Diocesan Assembly

Yesterday in Shepparton, I attended the Sandhurst Diocesan Assembly, along with nearly 400 people comprising of Clergy, Educators, lay Parishioners, young people and Staff from the Catholic Education Sandhurst.

We all joined the movement towards synodality, being a church on the journey together and will pave the way for formation of a Sandhurst Mission and Pastoral Council.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Elissa Roper, who challenged us with her ideas and thoughts.

Alpha in the Catholic context is an 11 week course that gives an opportunity to explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly open and informal environment.  This program begins at St. Brendan's Parish on 27th February at 6.20pm.  Child care is available.

If you are interested, we have forms at school, or you can obtain them at St. Brendan's Parish Office.

Richmond AFL Football Players Visit

We were very fortunate to have three Richmond players attend our school on Tuesday.

The players were:

Jayden Short, who has played 137 games, Won 2020 Best & Fairest in 2020 and played in their 2019, 2020 Premiership sides.

Jack Graham, who came 2nd in Richmond's 2021 Best and Fairest and has played 97 games with Premierships in 2017 and 2020.

New recruit, Kaleb Smith was Richmond's first selection in the 2022 national draft and was recruited from East Fremantle as a half back/general utility player.

The children from Years 3-6 enjoyed the Clinic, and Years 5-6 particularly enjoyed the Question and Answer time.  Many thanks to these players for their time.  They were also a great many excited teachers as well.
