Science
On Wednesday 9th of March the Year 12 Biology class travelled to the Gene Technology Centre (GTAC) in Melbourne. Students worked with PhD students to transform bacteria by adding genes from a sea jelly, the results can be seen in the photo below – bacteria that glow under UV light! Students gained hands on experience using laboratory grade equipment and processes including gel electrophoresis, pipettes and the amazing fluorescent microscope.
Term 1 Science in Year 8 has been about understanding what is important for our bodies to survive. The students today were modelling the path of digestion and how to avoid constipation.
