Mission

On Wednesday we gathered with the School Community and the Presentation Sisters to acknowledge the Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated annually on the 21 November. The theme of our reflection this year was “symbols to treasure”, inspired by Luke’s Gospel passage, “Mary treasured up all these things, and pondered them in her heart”.

As part of our reflection students brought forward ‘symbols to treasure’ to fill the prayer space reflecting the lives and contributions of our Presentation Sisters from the Wagga Wagga Congregation.

We launched the Nagle Education Alliance of Australia’s newly commissioned song, "A light to our Path" - composed by Amara Primero and performed by Diana Rouvas.

Students were encouraged to take the opportunity to reflect on their role in the Presentation Story. Who has lit their path? And how they are inspired to light the paths of others, in our world today?

Our call today is to see Mary as a model of the new vision for God’s Kingdom. Mary remains as a presence in each one of us and in all whom we encounter. May our hearts be open, as Mary’s was, ready to receive all the fruits of the spirit, in love.

Mary, we honour you and the grace which fills you.

The Word of God imbues you, permeates you with the fragrance of the Holy

Spirit. You are truly blessed, woman for all God’s children, mother to all God’s creation.

May we be open hearted, open minded, open armed, as we say “yes” in faith, hope, and trust. We pray that our world comes to know the peace and love enfleshed by Jesus and reflected in the love of his mother Mary.

For this community: that we may be ‘Mary’ and ‘Nano’ to each other, recognising the gifts of Jesus in each other.

May we be inspired to treasure up all our blessings and loved one’s,

pondering them in our hearts, encouraging a spirit of stillness and contemplation.

Vinnies Christmas Appeal

As we journey towards advent, in preparation for Christmas, we turn our hearts and minds to acts of service and as such call upon your support of the 2019 Christmas Appeal.

Mater Dei supports the ongoing work of the Kooringal Conference of St Vincent de Paul in making Christmas Hampers for the less fortunate members of our community. We have begun collecting donations this week, during Homegroup time and will continue these right throughout the term.

Please consider making a Christmas themed donation to our appeal, reflecting on the types of food and drink you enjoy on Christmas day, and picking up something during your grocery shop.

Some suggestions of non-perishable Christmas donations are below;

Christmas Pudding or Cake

Tinned Ham

Gravy

Bon Bons

Tinned fruit

Custard

Cake mixes

Lollies or chocolates

Families are also welcome to donate gifts for children, if doing so, there is no need to wrap these, and just place them in an open gift bag or plastic bag. All gift card donations are also gratefully received. Thank you for supporting the MDCC Vinnies Christmas Appeal this year. Those donations are so richly valued by their recipients!
