Year 7

Year 7 Forest Edge Camp

The Year 7s headed off to Forest Edge Camp for their connection camp on Wednesday 30th March for an awesome time filled with adventures and activities.

Forest Edge Camp was a very exciting and fun camp. All students loved it! The activities we really enjoyed, especially the flying fox and the waterslide. The food was also delicious! One day for lunch we had burritos, which was really really nice. We even got to choose the sauce we had on it: garlic aioli or sweet chili. I (Tyla) had the garlic aioli.

We also learnt a new fun game called Nine Square. Whenever we were given free time we went down to the gym to play it. - Tyla E. and Harrison S. (7F)

Camp and the activities were really fun. The high ropes and flying fox were my favourite activities (Eliana), but Aroosha didn’t like the high ropes course. Her favourite activities were the waterslide and flying fox. I (Aroosha) really enjoyed the food, with my favourite meal being the chicken schnitzel. The night walk was horrible! The ground was really steep and it was a 20-minute walk. We almost passed out and couldn’t breathe.

Overall it was a great camp and we would rate it an 8/10. - Aroosha T. and Eliana L.

Year 8

Point and Be Proud Program

During Week 9, our Year 8 students have been lucky enough to be involved in a pilot program with St Kilda Football Club called 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱. This program involves sharing Nicky Winmar’s iconic stand at Vic Park in 1993 as the focal point.

𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 is an education program aiming to raise awareness of the racism and discrimination still present in our society today – and the impact it has on individual mental health and wellbeing.

One group of Year 8 students were lucky enough to participate in the program at the newly opened Danny Frawley Wellness Centre.

Cape Schanck - Humanities

Between Monday 21st and Wednesday 23rd March, the Year 8s trekked down to Cape Schanck and Gunnamatta Beach for some exploring and investigating of Coastal Landscapes.

On Monday the 21st of March, 8B and 8D visited Cape Schanck and Gunnamatta Beach to observe the natural landscapes as a part of our humanities assessment. We learned about the different rocks and natural formations along Australia's coast. We also learned about an endangered native bird species found nesting at Gunnamatta Beach and about rip currents and types of waves, as well as about how the beaches were formed and what can be done to conserve and protect our coastlines from erosion.  - Roni W-S. (8B)

Our field trip to Gunnamatta Beach was delightful and so much fun. When we first arrived there were lots of waves and it looked beautiful. I think everyone really enjoyed the trip and would love to do it again sometime.   - Olivia B. (8B)
