Student Spotlight!

Year 10 STEM: Andy, E10

As the final project for this term, my group and I have been tasked to create a learning space that promotes student health and wellbeing. A task certainly just as challenging as it is fun and intriguing. During the development of this project, we created surveys and surveyed our fellow peers, developed 3D models, and even visualised a virtual classroom through a VR medium.

Through this experience, I was able to not just develop my skills in the study of STEM, but also in communication, leadership and the ability to think creatively; so to say, 'outside of the box' - a skill I believe would benefit me not just in my pursuit of STEM, but in all other aspects of my life. Finally, I would like to thank the school for giving me this invaluable opportunity and my teachers for pushing me to my very limits.

Juniors go to Mars

This term, our students visited Swinburne University's KIOSC Tech School. They began their day by exploring Mars through VR. They then designed a Mars habitat by investigating insulating materials through conducting their own experiments using sensors and data loggers. Lastly, students coded and piloted drones in a Mars mission. We all had a fantastic time!

STEM Partnerships

As part of our ongoing partnership with the Vernier Foundation, we were pleased to accept equipment and tools for our STEM program. The Vernier Foundation has supported both the teaching program and individual students via scholarships for many years now and the school is incredibly grateful.
