Italian News

Once again this year, all our students have the opportunity to enter this state-wide competition sponsored by the Italo-Australian Welfare & Cultural Centre INC.        2022 is the International Year of Glass, and ‘IL VETRO’ is the theme for this year’s challenges.

YEAR LEVEL DETAILS

Year 2On the entry sheet, students select & label in Italian only the items that contain/are made of glass, and answer the question ‘Quante cose ci sono di vetro?’
Year 3Students draw a stained glass window showing a family of at least 4 members. A description in Italian of at least 2 of them is required, including name, relationship, hair and eye colour, clothing worn, etcetera.
Year 4Students produce and illustrate a 6-frame slideshow on ’Come si produce il vetro a Murano’. A short written description in Italian is required under each slide.
Year 5Students produce an advertisement for their furniture store (un negoziodi mobili) depicting 6 household furniture items that include glass in their construction (tv, computer, mirror…). This should include some descriptive adjectives in Italian and a catchy advertising slogan.
Year 6With the intended goal of collecting glass bottles to raise money for their swimming club, students create a poster (pubblicità)to illustrate ‘il viaggio del vetro’. The poster should describe the recycling process in Italian and include a clever incentive to encourage people to donate their bottles to the swimming club.

Prizes will be awarded at each year level.                                             A $50 gift card and a plaque will be presented to the winner from each year level.                                                                                      The competition closes on Friday May 6, 2022, but entries are due to me by Friday, April 29.

If your child(ren) would like to participate, please encourage them to collect official entry forms and helpful hints from me in class, ASAP.

Saluti (Regards)

This term we challenge you to crunch the rainbow for Crunch&Sip® by making a rainbow in your classroom. Eating different coloured fruits and vegetables provides lots of different vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals. Which is why crunching on a rainbow will help kids get the right balance of nutrients they need for a healthy body.
