Senior School House Swimming and Diving Carnival
On Tuesday 8 February, Shelford held their annual Senior School House Swimming and Diving Carnival at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MASC). All students were energised and eager to get the day underway as they were dressed from head to toe in their house colours. The weather was also picture perfect and set the scene for a great day in the pool.
Students were able to compete in a number of traditional events including 100m and 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke and 50m Butterfly. However, the real draw card of the day seemed to be the 25m races which were full to the max and bought an exciting sprint contest to light.
We were able to see some amazing talents with record breaking times as well as be inspired by those who gave it their all no matter what their swimming ability. Each House showed up with amazing house spirit and supported each other with even better sportsmanship.
The overall placings of the day were:
- 1st place= Langley
- 2nd place = Blundell
- 3rd place = Lloyd
- 4th place = Thomas
There are also some incredible individual performances, and these students were awarded the Year Level Champions:
- Year 7/8 Champions = Teannah P and Annabelle W
- Year 9/10 Champion = Octavia T
- Year 11/12 Champion = Jay T
A big thank you for everyone who participated and volunteered throughout the day and made it a successful event. Thank you to all the House captains, student helpers and fellow staff members for their help and support on the day.
