Need to Know

We've certainly had a busy week here at St Helena.  Our new Year 12 Leaders enjoyed their Sailing Camp - learning to work together as a team, as well as make their plans for their leadership over the remainder of 2022.

Year 7s had their Orientation camp at Forest Edge Lodge and had a great time getting to know each other and their teachers and taking part in activities such as river sleddding, water sliding, hut building, bush walking and more.

Back at school we had our annual Pool Party and Swimming Carnival today.  It was fabulous to see so many students dressed up in creative costumes and enjoying the day.   I'll include some photos in next week's Bulletin.

The VCE Centre was opened for staff and student use earlier this week and students are enjoying the lovely new teaching and learning spaces.

Toilet Issues

A number of Year 10 boys have been sanctioned for being in the Middle School toilets - some of whom have contributed to the vandalism and others who have been present while it is occurring and thus passively encouraged it.  Some suspensions have been issued as well as a week's Community Service picking up rubbish in the yard.

Students MUST NOT use their swipe cards to admit other students to the toilets.

If students see damage, or mess, or that supplies have run out (toilet paper, soap, sanitary supplies etc) they are encouraged to report to their Mini School office straight away so that we can rectify the issue.  Any further instances of vandalism or damage will be treated very, very seriously.  We have spent significant funds on creating modern, clean and hygienic new bathrooms and students have a right to be able to access them and experience them as such.  ALL students have the responsibility of taking care of these lovely facilities - both by treating them with respect but also not standing by and allowing others to treat them with contempt.

Senior school toilets will be refurbished over the Easter break.  This will be the last block to be done and Senior School will then have TWO blocks of toilets.   While we are down a block of toilets, senior school students are able to access Senior School toilets, the First Aid toilet and the toilet in the library foyer.

We are currently investigating the best brand of VAPE/Smoke detectors which will be soon installed in all student toilets so that students need not worry about encountering other students vaping or smoking when they go to use the facilities.

Mobile Phones

A reminder that mobile phones MUST be kept in lockers between 8.30 am and 2.50 pm. This is state government legislation.

If you need to contact your child urgently during the school day, please call the general office on 9438 8500.

That's it for me this week.  Have a wonderful weekend.   KT  :-)
