ATHLETICS DAY

What a fantastic day we had at the Monash Athletics Track.  The weather was amazing a little hot towards the end of the day but overall it was a great day out.  It was fantastic to see all students trying their best.  The competition was amazing but the sportsmanship after each race was wonderful to see.

The  winner of the house was:

1st - Kurrajong - 906

2nd - Timbarra - 839

3rd -  Waratah - 832

4th - Mungarra - 779

A very big thank you to all the parents who came to help, support and cheer on the students.  Without your help the day does not run smoothly, so a big thank you from me.

We will be having an assembly on Friday morning at 9:00 am to announce the winner for each age group.

INTER-SCHOOL SPORT

Finals

Last Friday the Weeden Heights basketball team competed against Jells Park in the summer finals.

During the game,  the MVP was Alex because he was such a good sport throughout the whole game. At half time Jells Park was only winning by 5 points, but at the end the total score was 24-35.  We want to give out a huge thanks to Mrs Molnar, for all her hard work in making Inter-School sport possible.

We are looking forward to playing winter inter school sports!

Last Friday the 29/3/19 the Weeden Heights Tee ball team seat off on a journey to Caulfield Grammar.  At the start of the match we had a coin toss to see who would bat first we won and chose to field first.  They had some extraordinary batters and so do we but their fielding was excellent.  Our best runs per innings was 5 runs. The overall scores were 18 to 11 we lost but most importantly we had fun our MVP was Ethan Vennell for encouraging our team even though we were feeling upset.  Also a big thank you from the team to Fiona for coming to every game, and Mrs Molnar for organising inter-school sports.

Visual Arts

The students are thoroughly enjoy creating, playing and exploring within the Visual Arts Room.

The year 2, 3 and 4s are still painting their window wall mural and this is looking fantastic!!! The prep students have been viewing art works from the NGV exhibition The Field Revisted and have responded by creating their own patterned artworks and have titled them.

The grade 1s and 2s are creating a front cover design for Suri's Wall and have been exploring techniques of cutting and tearing within the medium of collage.

The grades 5s and 6s are creating banners for the Night of the Notables and are exploring watercolour painting. Their notable characters are looking great and they are using great detail and care within their work.

All students have also been bringing in their own artwork for display as we now have a Student Art Gallery within the Visual Art Room for the whole school. This encourages students to keep exploring art - in drawing, painting and creating and allows all students to see a range of artworks from all years.

All students are doing such a wonderful job within Visual Arts!!!
