A Word from the Principal

A warm welcome to our community.

The first term has absolutely flown!   We have had a fabulous start to 2019 and it is wonderful to see our preps here full time and becoming a part of our wonderful community.  Just a reminder that this Friday is the final day for term 1.  School will finish at 2.30pm after a very short assembly.  We will be presenting a lot of awards and welcome you to come and celebrate the achievements of our students as well.  We hope to see you there to wish you well for your Easter holidays.

Thank-you and farewell to Mrs Robertson

I would like to sincerely thank Mrs Kerri Robertson for working in our year 1/2 class this term replacing a teacher who retired.  Kerri has done an outstanding job once again and she has expressed how much she has enjoyed her time with our students.  The students have benefited from someone who knows our school so well and they will miss her.  Kerri heads off overseas and soon so we wish her all the best with her travels and we will see her back at Weeden Heights soon as a replacement teacher.

I have advertised the position for the 1/2 class and unfortunately the panel were not in a position to appoint anyone so it was re advertised.  I have extremely high expectations for Weeden Heights and I am continuing to search for the perfect replacement for this class.  This position will be for the rest of the year and the panel hopes to find a successful applicant on the holidays that is ready to be inducted and begin next term.

I will keep parents up to date with what is happening for grade 1/2 however, I will not compromise our student’s learning with someone who will not fit our school.  Miss Davis will continue to work in the classroom on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

New Signage

Next term you will see some new signage around the school which is fabulous!  I have approved art work for a new kitchen garden sign, a massive sign for the back of the hall, a new administration sign to add to the front of the building and a SAKG foundation sign for the garden.   They should look fabulous and I am hoping that anyone who enters from the back of the school will now realise where they are.  The new signs should look like the images below.

Working Bee

Thanks you to all the families who attended the working bee.  The weather was amazing, lots of work was completed and there was an excellent turn up.  The families did a terrific job moving new sand and hay bales, raking soft fall and making our school neat and tidy.  It is definitely heart-warming to see our community working together as a team and it was another opportunity for our new families to meet us.  THANK-YOU!

SRC Dress up day and PFA Special Lunch Day

Tomorrow is a special food day run by our wonderful PFA.  Our student will be enjoying some ‘yummy’ dumplings for the first time so it will be a special treat.

I am very proud of our SRC how spoke so sincerely at their meeting about supporting the innocent victims of the Gippsland fires…...  the animals!  Our students are encouraged to come along dressed as a wild animal or a farm animal on Friday with a gold coin donation (or more if you would like to support).  It should be fun so please get behind our student group.

Easter Egg Hunt

It was wonderful to see the whole school outside on Wednesday working together to find Easter Eggs.  The year 5 buddies and prep students also had a small hunt on Tuesday.  Loads of fun, smiling faces, team work and a  chance to enjoy the sun!

Instagram and Facebook

Don't forget to follow up on Facebook and now Instragram.  There will be some lovely photos of your children doing what they do best.....having fun and learning!

Last Day of Term

Our whole school assembly will be conducted under the sails at around 2.15pm.  Students will be dismissed at 2.30pm ready for their two week break.

We all return to school on Tuesday 23 April 2019 (Easter Tuesday).

I wish all of our families a safe and restful holiday and Easter break.  Please return to us safely in term 2 after having some fun.

Until next term,

Ms Kylie Campbell

Principal
