Miners Rest PS Presents Disney's Aladdin Jr. 2020
Miners Rest PS Presents Disney's Aladdin Jr. 2020

This year we are excited to present this wonderful Performing Arts opportunity to all students in Years One to Six. The main cast characters are selected from our Years Five and Six cohort of children who express interest in playing a lead role.  This year we are fortunate to have many lead roles available, as well as prop and set assistants, dance leaders and choreographers. Our Years Five and Six children take great pride in driving the direction of the production, with weekly Performing Arts time reserved for costume and makeup design, and prop making. As our senior students show great initiative in all aspects of this production, they will be required to perform in all performances. More information regarding times will be released in Term Two.

All students in Years One to Four will learn a song in their Performing Arts time and perform in one performance only as a classroom ensemble. It is a wonderful opportunity for the children to showcase their musical abilities, develop confidence in performing and take great pride in being a part of a school wide initiate. To develop the students confidence, over time, we will gradually perform to different sized audiences. Students in Years One to Four will also have the opportunity to audition for a specialty dance role and will participate in all performances. This role has a dance focus and will be lead by our Years Five and Six dance leadership team. These senior students will run the audition process for these roles at the beginning to Term Two. All students in Years One to Four are welcome to audition and Performing Arts rehearsal time will be allocated to students interested in these roles.

Frequently asked questions...

Are the Kindergarten and Foundation students in the Production?

The production is specifically for students in Years One to Four. The Kindergarten and Foundation students have the opportunity to view rehearsals and are invited to view the production at a subsidized ticket cost.  Picture story books, learning opportunities and musical activities will be integrated into their classroom and Performing Art time to include the students in the process. We encourage all Kindergarten and Foundation children to view the performance so that they are prepared for their turn in future years to come. It is also a wonderful way to introduce our new families to our production process.

What is Foundation Musical Play?

Foundation Musical Play is a day each term, where we invite the families of the Foundation students to participate in a Performing Arts class with the children. It is an interactive session where we sing, dance, play games and make instruments together. We share lots of laughs and smiles as we follow the children's musical ideas and imaginative play. This experience will be held at the end of Term Two. Further information will be released closer to the date.
