Ethan Kuzma
What role do you have at SCSC?
My role as a Specialist Technician is to support Surf Coast in any and all technical related matters as well as provide guidance on infrastructure design, technical planning and development processes.
What do you like about working at SCSC?
Working at SCSC has provided me with an opportunity to work in a dynamic role with the support of fantastic colleagues while giving me an insight into what can be accomplished when a driven group of people work together toward a common goal while maintaining a close-knit ‘family’ aspect towards work that I have not experienced before in my career.
What other professional roles did you have before working at SCSC?
Before making a change to a career in IT I had a range of jobs, including but not limited to: Boilermaker (welder), forklift driver, and various labouring positions. After going back to study and before coming to Surf Coast full-time, my professional career in IT consisted of some time spent working at several other schools around Geelong, a small IT firm providing support to numerous businesses around the Greater Geelong area and Cotton On Group. Briefly in a help desk position before being promoted to a Support Analyst role working with the International Distribution Centre team, handling international database and logistical issues while providing lead technical support for team members at the Avalon Distribution Centre.

I love the feeling of community within the school and positivity that staff and students bring every day. Being a Torquay local it is a great place to live and work. I really enjoy being able to support staff and students in their use of technology to see them achieve some really wonderful things.
What other professional roles did you have before working at SCSC?
I previously worked for global investment firm Goldman Sachs JB Were in their banking and finance division in Melbourne. I then moved back to Deakin University where many years earlier I received my commerce degree to work in their eSolutions IT division and then Business and Law division. And now with a young family in Torquay I’m really happy to be working with the staff and students at SCSC.

VASS Coordinator / Careers Team
What do you like about working at SCSC?
This is my first year at SCSC working in a school, what can I say, I already feel part of the community. The staff and students have been very welcoming and supportive, and I hope to be here for many years to come.
What other professional roles did you have before working at SCSC?
My background is hospitality, where I started out over 18 years ago. Working my way up from the kitchen, a variety of hospitality positions, into a hotel management role, accounts, and payroll. I then went across into hospitality training, assessing and administration, working for a school-based trainee employer. I am passionate about giving our younger youth options and making them job ready for the years ahead.
