Administration

The College’s Finance Team have been busy processing refunds to family accounts for 2020 subject levies, which had an allocation for an activity which has not been able to proceed this year due to the pandemic. These subjects/programs include:

Year 8 FUSE

Year 9 Asian Studies

Year 9 Advancing Australia

Year 9 Create & Debate

Year 9 Environmental Studies – Semester 1

Year 9 Outdoor Education – Semester 1

Year 9 Physical Education

Year 10 Rights & Freedoms

Year 11 History

Year 11 Legal Studies

Year 12 History

VCE Business Management

VET Sport & Recreation - Second Year

Surf Academy

Credits have been applied to your school account, and families can opt to have this credit refunded to them directly, or carried forward to use against 2021 school levies. Statements have been emailed to families today, listing any credits that you may have available. Should you wish to request a direct refund, we ask that you email our Finance Team at accounts@scsc.vic.edu.au to request a refund application form. Please note that the direct refund process may take some time, and we appreciate your patience.

Please note that if a subject/program levy with an activity component does not appear on the above list, this means that our teaching staff are still planning to run an activity for your child in Term 4. In the event that an activity is not able to proceed in 2020, credits will be applied to your school account, and carried forward to 2021.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email us at accounts@scsc.vic.edu.au

Kind Regards,

SCSC Finance Team

2021 Student Leadership

Information has been sent to all Year 11 students regarding 2021 Student Leadership opportunities, including for the roles of College Captain, College Vice Captain, and House Captains.  Being a leader is a significant responsibility - and does involve a commitment on your part - but can be an incredibly rewarding experience too.

Students can apply to be a leader in 2021 by completing this Google Form

Applications close on the last day of Term 3 - Friday 18th September.

VCE Units 3 & 4 Revision Lectures

We’ve been able to gain access to a series of online VCE Units 3 & 4 Revision Lectures for students in regional and rural Victoria, which Surf Coast students are able to access.  The teachers delivering these lectures have been selected for the experience as Units 3 & 4 teachers, as well as experience as VCAA Exam Assessors. Lectures take place on weekends and will continue until the exam period. The lectures are available for:

  • Biology
  • Business Management
  • Chemistry
  • English
  • Food Studies
  • Further Maths
  • Health & Human Development
  • Legal Studies
  • Math Methods
  • Physical Education
  • Physics
  • Psychology
  • Specialist Maths
  • Studio Arts
  • Visual Communication

The timetable page outlines the list of live interactive lectures available and students can then click on the link to see more information about the presenter, duration of the lecture (most are 1-2 hours), topic and a brief overview of the session. Lectures will also be recorded and can be watched or re-watched for future reference. Students have individualised login details that have been shared with them via Compass. There will also be a range of other opportunities for other subjects and the GAT that will be available in the future. This year has not been what any of us expected in any way, shape, or form, and it’s so important that students take opportunities such as these lectures to allow them to be as prepared as possible for their final exams this year. I encourage you to have a conversation with your child about making the most of opportunities, especially ones such as these which aren’t available to students in metropolitan schools.

Tech Support

This is part of what will be an ongoing platform to communicate support content, ideas and news relevant to the schools digital systems. The posts will contain links, videos and information as appropriate, all of which will be available on an individual website for you to access at any given point. I’ve put together a short and simple video to assist with the navigation of Canvas from a parents/observer's perspective, it covers the following.

  • Dashboard
  • Types of Notifications
  • Course Pages
  • Marks

The video can be found at this link - Click here

The page where all posts will be stored is - Click here

Science Week - Winners

The overall winner was Tom Hugo from Zeally winning his house 20 points! He was followed closely by Sean Cameron from Birdrock and Lucas Berry from Bells. All participants received 1 house point. This resulted in 52 points being awarded to Zeally, 29 points  to Birdrock and 20 points to both Bells and Roadknight. Well done Zeally!

The most correctly answered question was that the longest mountain range is actually under the sea!

Thank you to everyone that celebrated Science week by participating in the Deep Blue Science week Quiz!
