As we embark on another week of remote learning, it is really pleasing to see students engage in activities, keep positive and take on challenges one step at a time. Many of the children talk about routines set at home as part of their school day, and often share what they do to relax and have fun. It makes us really proud to see resilience in such young people. As the term starts to come to a close, it's important to keep positive and focus on how far students have come, the skills they have developed and what they can do whilst learning from home.
This Friday, the 4th of September, we invite FJ and FL Dads to attend their Foundation child's morning homeroom Zoom at 9:30 am. The link will be in Google Classroom. We also invite all Foundation Dads to join us for our Father's Day Whole School Assembly on the same day, at 1:30 pm. The link will be sent via SkoolBag later this week. We hope no matter where Dads are, they can join in.
We wish all Dads a very happy Father's Day! We know your children love and adore you and hope they spoil you with love and affection.
When it comes to creativity and highlighting interests and passions, students in Foundation are Number One! We are truly blown away with the myriad of ideas the children have had and the processes they are following to put together their projects. It has been uplifting to see students take on the role of teacher when presenting their project to their peers. Seeing them practise life long skills of problem solving, speaking with confidence, answering impromptu questions in an online forum, and discussing challenges, is awesome. These kids are going to make great community leaders some day!
Here is a sample of some of projects that have recently been completed:-
This term, our Inquiry focus is "What Makes a Community?". Students have learnt what the term 'community means', they have identified different people and services in their own community, and they have explained what to do in different scenarios if and when you need help in a community. A byproduct of our current period of lock down, is students have witnessed and shared ways they, their parents, their relatives, friends and neighbours in the local and wider community, have banded together and looked after each other, to enable everyone to get through this challenging time. That's what makes a community!
Recently, Foundation students explained how police help us in our community. We invite you to peruse through some of their insights.
