College Chaplain

Friends,

Many thanks to all of you for your prayers for our year 12 students during the HSC trial exams. Our friends still need your prayer during this time to make a good preparation for their real exams next several weeks. May the Lord grant them wisdom, knowledge and courage and other graces to gain the good results for their studies and to glorify God in all they do and say.

Last term and this term, I think that you are aware of the mass being celebrated sometimes  in the Chapel with different classes. Thank you very much for those who have organized, volunteered to  serve at mass, and made the mass happened in our college community. Though we cannot have a whole college mass this year because of COVID-19 restriction, I want to let you all know that even at the class mass we pray for the college and those who relate to each one of us.

For the rest of this term and next, most of Wednesday and Thursday during lunchtime I will be available in the chapel for those who would like to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation or to talk with me. Let us walk together on our journey of faith through the Sacraments.

I invite you all to join the prayer with the Pope this month.

With Jesus in the morning

Father of Goodness, I know you’re with me.Here I am on this new day.Place my heart once more next to the Heart of your Son Jesus, who is giving himself for me and who comes to me in the Eucharist.May your Holy Spirit make me your friend and apostle, available for your mission of compassion.I put in your hands my joys and hopes, my works and sufferings, everything that I am and have, in communion with my brothers and sisters of this worldwide prayer network. With Mary I offer you my journey for the mission of the Church and for the intentions of the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network for this month.

With Jesus in the night

God, good night.Thank you for the day.The good bits were good. The tough bits are over for another day.Help me to sleep well tonight.Help me to face into another day tomorrow.Bless and protect all my loved ones this night.Bless and protect all those, too, with whom I disagree or with whom I don’t get on – they’re you’re children too, I know.May tomorrow bring about your will for the world – peace, love, joy and mercy.May I play my part. For now, good night, God.I love you and know you love me, warts and all

This month's intention:

Father,

You created us to praise, reverence, and serve You as our God and Lord, and by doing this we receive the gift of salvation. All other things on the earth are created for me, to help me to pursue this purpose of my creation. Help me to use Your creation insofar as it helps me to praise, reverence, and serve You, and free me of any created thing that hinders me.

Grant me the grace of indifference toward all created things, that I might seek only what is best for my soul and my created purpose, and that of my neighbour.

Let me prefer not health to sickness, wealth to poverty, honour to dishonour, a long life to a short one, nor any one created thing over another, save for what aids me most in loving You in this life, that I might love you eternally in the life You promise to those who praise, reverence, and serve you after the example of Your Son, through Whom and for Whom you created all things. Amen.
