Kildare played Mater Dei in the final of the Preston-Butcher Cup on Tuesday 18 August at Jubilee Park 4.00 pm. This tournament is the CWWHS open girls' touch tournament which has been held each year since 2005. After a tight early passage in the game, Kildare took a lead of 5-2 at half time. The young, fast Mater Dei team provided stern opposition and were always dangerous. In the end, the consistency across the thirteen Kildare players came to the fore and the girls won 9-4. A big thank you to Cohen Benson for being our referee, Mrs Murphy for being our manager and Mrs Kendall for being our KCC sports liaison person.
