Year 8 Design A
Rube Goldberg Machine
Year 8 Maths students were reminded about the transference of skills across curricula areas this week, when they were required to design a small Rube Goldberg machine in class. The machine, named after American cartoonist, Rube Goldberg, is intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an overly complicated way. Science teachers, Mrs Gaiter and Mrs Lough joined the Year 8 Maths teachers in directing a fun and engaging lesson where skills such as measuring angles, distances and time were required to design and construct a simple Rube Goldberg machine. Year 8 will be creating their own machines in Science and so this week they got a taste of the design and construction processes and the maths skills required. Thank you to all students and staff involved.
