Dear primary families
I’ve had a lot of feedback after posting the most recent video out. People have reached out to share their feelings on the remote learning journey and have shared anecdotes on the trials and tribulations of home life during stage 4 restrictions. One stand out thing that I myself have been reflecting on is the ability to deal with my own children’s frustrations in a positive way. It’s been challenging to say the least particularly when I may be feeling stressed. I’ve been speaking to our appointed Student Support Service Officer about positive ways to help children and families in the current remote learning situation. We discussed how this has impacted our ability to have control over our lives. For children it’s even tougher when they are unable to verbalise their thoughts and feelings. I thought this chart may help to open up the conversation about the current frustrations.
You can print this out and have a chat with your children. I think there’s something in it for all.
Take care everyone. If you require any further support or ideas for activities like the one of posted please email margaretd@collingwood.vic.edu.au

PREP D ICE ART & LAVENDER PILLOWS
The Preps in Gabrielle's class have been experiencing the transition from winter to spring by making ice art with the flowers they find blooming in the spring time.
As an indoor activity the Preps are making lavender pillows, which involves some very focussed stitching.

CLASS 6C BOOK WEEK
Book Week in Stage 4 Lock Down: Remote Learning Style
As Class 6 spend their last year of Primary schooling at Collingwood in and out of Remote learning, we thought we better make the best of our last Book Week together. So many of us chose a beloved book character and worked with what we had at home to create book character costumes! We had a ‘parade’ of sorts and celebrated the wonderful worlds of books!! We played ‘guess my character,’ looked over our list of recommended books we have been writing up over Term 3’s remote learning period and discussed some of the books. Everyone was given a chance to share their character. It was a fun morning class video call! We hope that Book Parade lives on to see another year and will look back on this and previous years with fondness…we hope you all continue to enjoy Book Week and the parade in years to come as much as we have!!!

PRIMARY CHINESE PROGRAMS
The Grade 3 and 4's have been learning about the weather and days of the week in Chinese this term. With support from the instructional videos, vocabulary list and samples provided, as well as generous support from parents and carers, students have produced exceptional work.
Well done students!
The Grade 5 and 6's have been learning about the origin of the word of '户' and the different rooms in a house in Chinese. They were then tasked to demonstrate the understanding of those rooms through either drawing a house plan or a house model, with each room labeled. The amount of creativity from the students has been very encouraging, and I applaud each of them for giving their best, and creating such high quality work.
