Year 7 and 10 Immunisations

As a result of school closures due to COVID-19, Darebin Council’s Immunisation Service will be administering the secondary school immunisation program via Eventbrite (online booking system) sessions at Preston City Hall, 284 Gower Street, Preston.

Parents will be able to book a specific time via the Eventbrite links below.

The dates for immunisation are:

Tuesday 22 September and Wednesday 30th September (morning and afternoon times available on both dates).

Information for Year 7 Parents

If you child has not commenced the first doses of the year 7 vaccines we invite you to attend an Eventbrite session during the September school holidays.

If you have already attended our Eventbrite sessions in May/June your child IS NOT required to attend a session in September and will receive their second dose of HPV Gardasil in November/December at school.

Information for Year 10 Parents

All year 10 students are recommended to attend one of Council’s Eventbrite sessions during the September school holidays to receive the Meningococcal ACWY Vaccine. If your child has already attended a Council session or GP to receive the immunisation in 2020, they DO NOT need to attend.

The only thing you need to bring with you to the session is a water bottle for your child.

We will have your child’s information on our immunisation database and will confirm your consent for your child to receive the vaccine when you attend the session.

If you have any questions about your child’s immunisation status or the Secondary School immunisation Program please call Darebin Immunisation Service on 8470 8562.

Do not contact your child’s secondary school as the program is administered by Darebin Council and your child’s secondary school will not be able to provide immunisation information.

COVID-19 – Department of Health and Human Services Advice for Parents of Secondary School Students

While most students are learning from home at present, the Victorian Chief Health Officer has advised that the delivery of the secondary school immunisation program is an essential medical service and your child should still receive the required vaccines on time.

People under Stage 3 or 4 restrictions can travel for health reasons (which includes receiving a vaccine/s).

The Darebin Council Immunisation team will be screening, social distancing and implementing hygiene practices including the use of appropriate PPE in accordance with Department of Health and Human Services advice.
