Principal's Notes

Hi everyone

I hope you enjoy today’s edition of ‘Healesville High Connections’. It seems to be getting bigger and better each week. Congratulations to this week’s stars – Holly, Riley and Sienna and also to Corey, the focus of this week’s Hidden Talent section. Thank you and congratulations to those students and staff appearing in ‘5 questions’; Darby, Ms Lumsden, Taylah, Ella, Ms Todd and especially to Will for his detailed responses. Thank you also to each of the other contributors.

It was pleasing to see Mr Ion Whykes recognised in the article -‘1975. Year in Focus’. Mr. Whykes is the longest serving principal of Healesville HS and he continues to be a most amazingly generous supporter of the school, through his company YX Ball Financial Pty Ltd. Mr Whykes is also a dedicated ‘Rotarian’, and he and his wife Wilma are incredibly tireless and generous community-minded individuals.

I very much enjoyed learning more about Mr Scully, in particular about his early years and about his plans for the future. Mr Scully, like Mr and Mrs Whykes, is a very generous human being, giving willingly of his time and his emotions to assist our students and never has that been more evident than over the past five months. Mr Scully cares greatly about the welfare and academic progress of the students in his care, often putting their wellbeing ahead of his own. Healesville HS is fortunate that Mr Scully is part of our community.

I am sure that, like me, you are carefully following the daily media briefings from the premier Daniel Andrews and as soon as there is information relevant to the operation of schools we will act on it and I will keep you fully informed.

Until then please focus on the factors within our control - hard work, flexibility, care and support for each other!

Best wishes everyone – stay safe.

Allan Rennick
