Principal's Notes
Safety on the roads
The safety of students whilst they are travelling to and from school is of paramount importance and I would urge students to always use footpaths whilst walking, and to cross busy roads at appropriate locations such as pedestrian crossings. In addition students riding to school must wear safety helmets. Students, when travelling to or from school or at any other time, please do not ride skateboards on roads and do not walk on roads.
Parent –Teacher Interviews
Parent Teacher interviews will be held this term during the evening of Wednesday March 28 and throughout the day on Thursday March 29. The interview times are Wednesday 3.40pm until 5.30pm and 6.30pm until 8.00pm; and Thursday 10.00am until 11.40am and 12.30pm until 2.30pm. Please mark these dates and times on your calendar so that you can make an appointment to speak with all of your child’s teachers. Students are expected to attend interviews with their parents/carers. Formal classes will not be held on Thursday March 29.
Attendance at school: Every Day Counts
Each of us want our students and our children to get the best possible education, and a basic requirement for a comprehensive education is that students attend school each day.
Good habits are developed by attending school every day – habits that are necessary to succeed after school, whether in the workplace or in further study.
Missing school has been proven to have significant impact on students, both academically and socially. Absence may affect test results, including results achieved at VCE level, and, just as importantly, it can affect relationships with other students, and lead to social isolation.
Thank you to families and parents who actively support their children, and the school, by ensuring that absences are minimised, and that their children attend school punctually every day. Please inform the school (in advance wherever possible) if your child needs to miss class time.
Open Evening
This year we will hold our Open Evening for prospective Year 7 students on Wednesday May 2. Current families are most welcome to attend. It would be appreciated if families could pass this information to any members of our community looking for a secondary school in 2019 and beyond.
Finally, a reminder of the invitation to contact me or the school at any time to discuss concerns or issues you may have.
